Student Artist Statement: As shown in the portrait, there is an artist and their sketchbook, that is looking into the sky, and drawing a constellation that represents "me." I used darker colors like purple, black, and blue, to create a night sky, and set a mysterious yet calm mood. I wanted to portray how I'm unique, and only found in the stars. Also, there is an Earth in the background, that reveals that the constellation I am in, is not found on a normal planet. The value of this painting is to show others that they can be different, uncommon, and be themselves. Furthermore, I learned a lot from this challenge, especially that I learned more about myself, and I got to experience using new techniques that I never otherwise thought I would exceed in.
